About h9p3r

h9p3r is a full-text search engine. It has two separate indexes, one in English and one in French, and no ads, accounts, cookies or JavaScript.

What is indexed

• English: Wikipedia, Wiktionary and the other Wikimedia projects, Stack Overflow and the Stack Exchange network, Hacker News and Lobsters.
• French: French-language web pages, including public-service sites (gouv.fr) and local authorities.

How it works

Words are stemmed and results are ranked with BM25. Results are titles and links, with no snippets. Keywords work better than full questions. When a search runs out of time the page says so; asking again a moment later usually gives the full list.

API

Add format=json to any search URL, for example /?q=lisp&lang=en&format=json. lang is en or fr, k sets the number of results. Agents can read /llms.txt.
