# h9p3r

> h9p3r is a full-text search engine with two independent indexes:
> English (Wikipedia, Wiktionary and other Wikimedia projects, Stack
> Overflow and the Stack Exchange network, Hacker News, Lobsters) and
> French (French-language web pages, including public-service sites).
> Results are a ranked list of titles and URLs; there are no snippets.

## Search API

- `GET https://h9p3r.fr/?q=QUERY&lang=en&format=json` returns JSON.
  `lang` is `en` or `fr` (default `fr`). `k` sets the number of
  results (default 10). Sending `Accept: application/json` works
  instead of `format=json`.
- Response: `{"results": [{"title", "url", "score"}], "retry": false, ...}`.
  `retry: true` means the list may be incomplete: ask again in a
  few seconds. Other fields are diagnostics.
- Queries are keywords, not questions: words are stemmed and
  ranked with BM25. Short, specific terms work best.
- Please send one query at a time and identify your agent in
  User-Agent. Result pages are not meant to be crawled
  (see /robots.txt).
